Tom Frearson
FOUNDER & PROGRAMME DIRECTOR
Tom is a former Royal Marines Commando. He served on operations, and went on to work as a close protection operator and security consultant in the UK and high-risk environments, building and leading multinational teams where trust and execution were critical.
He is a qualified emergency medic and a professional educator, trained to teach first aid, mental health awareness, and conflict de-escalation — the skills at the heart of UK Ready. He designs and delivers the programme.

The facilitator standard
Everyone who delivers a Bearing programme meets the same standard before they teach a single student.
⮞ A professional background in military service, UK policing, professional security, education, or emergency medicine.
⮞ A recognised teaching qualification.
⮞ A Level 3 Award in Conflict Management.
⮞ An enhanced DBS check.
⮞ Induction, assessment, and sign-off against the UK Ready delivery standard before delivering independently.
⮞ First aid content delivered only by a FREC-qualified instructor.
⮞ The mental health first aid session is delivered by an instructor who holds a current First Aid for Mental Health qualification. Every cohort is led by a senior instructor who holds this qualification.
